On a sheltered cove where rainforest tumbles to the sea, Masoala Forest Lodge is a remote luxury eco-retreat on Madagascar’s wild northeastern peninsula, encircled by Masoala National Park and the coral-rich Tampolo Marine Reserve. Just seven palm-thatched treehouses, raised on stilted platforms, offer uninterrupted views across forest canopy and ocean, with only a few metres of beach between you and the warm water. Accessible solely by boat or on foot and hosting a maximum of fourteen guests, the lodge is a haven of true tranquillity. Days bring guided forest walks in search of lemurs and chameleons, sea kayaking, snorkelling, whale watching and fishing, followed by sundowners on a spectacular sea deck perched above the rocks.
